A favorite song from 1983- In 1983, one of my many favorite bands Minutemen released their album “What Makes a Man Start fires?” Bob Dylan Wrote Propaganda Songs is a great track from that LP…
Winslow LeechParticipantSong from a band that comes from an area starting with NEW-
Human Being by The New York Dolls…Winslow LeechParticipantA song that mentions the number FIVE- Five Years by David Bowie…
Winslow LeechParticipantA song that has the word Pass or Over in the title-
Over and Over by the Dave Clark Five…Winslow LeechParticipantA song about deception – Liar by The Sex Pistols…
Winslow LeechParticipantA song about a disaster or tragedy – New York Mining Disaster 1941- a 1967 song by the Bee Gees, the Bee Gees when they were still a new Beatles inspired pop band, not the Disco group that they would eventually become… the song is about miners trapped underground not knowing if they’re going to be rescued or not, to pass time, one miner tells the other about his wife and shows him a picture “…have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones…” the band said that the song was inspired by a real mining disaster in Wales the year before (1966)… But didn’t want the song to hit too close to real life & thought that New York sounded better… the song ended up being their first big hit..
Winslow LeechParticipantA song that every time it plays you just have to stop and listen- Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones, what a perfect blast of Rock Energy, you just have to listen! (Hey, it’s only about two minutes, TURN IT UP & listen!)…

Winslow LeechParticipantA song that mentions dirt or mud- Dirt by the Stooges, from their brilliant second album Funhouse…
Winslow LeechParticipantA favorite song from 1971- ’71 was a good year for music, Alice Cooper’s breakthrough lp Love it to Death came out that year and is certainly a favorite, but it is pretty well-known… A very close second favorite for me from that year is Death Walks Behind You by Atomic Rooster, sadly not nearly as well known… here’s the title track, turn it up & enjoy!
Winslow LeechParticipantA song with two of the same words in the title –
Rebel Rebel by David Bowie…Winslow LeechParticipantA song that uses an outdated word or phrase – Victrola by Veruca Salt… Thomas Edison was the first person in history to invent a method to record and playback sound, he invented the phonograph in 1877, he named it the “phonograph”. Subsequently, from his West Orange Laboratories and factories he created a recorded music industry. Phonograph originally meant an Edison brand. Eventually other companies created their own different versions of record players and needed to come up with their own names… in the early 20th century, The Victor Company in Camden NJ named their record player the Victrola.
Eventually the term phonograph came to be the accepted term for pretty much all record players, and the term victrola became the obsolete general term for all old antique (especially spring wound) record players…Winslow LeechParticipantA song that mentions a Saint – Saint Alfonzo’s Pancake Breakfast by Frank Zappa… as a bonus, the song even mentions a leprechaun… Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!🍀🍻
Winslow LeechParticipantA song with the word home in the title – In Every Dream Home a Heartache by Roxy Music, from their second lp, For Your Pleasure (when Brian Eno was still in the band)…
