A song that mentions a specific beverage- Lola by The Kinks, “You drink champagne and it tastes just like Coca-Cola…” The mention of Coca-Cola in this song caused some problems at the BBC, they did not want to endorse a specific Company, so the Kinks re-recorded the line to say cherry cola in the British version instead.

A song that mentions some sport or sports- I Like Sport by The Stukas. The Stukas were a great, but unfortunately very short-lived, British punk band from ’77, they released only three singles/EPs, and sadly never made a proper album.

Your take or nomination for the greatest song ever written- well, you know this is impossible… How can you compare the Ramones’ Blitzkrieg Bop to Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor… Two incredibly great songs… So it comes down to a matter of taste and preferences, my nomination is Halo of Flies by Alice Cooper, written and performed by the original Alice Cooper group: Alice Cooper, Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, Michael Bruce and Glen Buxton, one of the greatest rock bands ever! An epic, truly original song, great musical performance, great lyrics, brilliant delivery!
